July 1st Challenge and Changes

Hello and welcome to Sketches With Color! We have a few changes here on the blog starting this month.

First of all we would all like to say good-bye to our Design Team member Annie who, due to personal commitments, needed to step down from the team. We will miss her beautiful work and wish her the best in all her personal and scrappy endeavors!

There are also two changes with our challenges. We will no longer have challenges twice a month, but instead a single challenge which will be posted every first of the month. We hope this will give all of our followers more time to complete and upload submissions. The other change to our challenges is that while we will still have both a sketch and color palette to inspire you...you will no longer be required to use the color palette. Submissions MUST still follow the sketch for an entry into our randomly drawn monthly prize. Using the color palette is now optional. However, using it in conjunction with the sketch will gain an additional entry for the prize.

Here is this month's sketch (Don't forget that the sketch is mandatory for submissions)...

July Guest Designer

Stacia Brandt

Hi!! My name is Stacia Brandt and I am excited to be Guest Designing this month for Sketches With Color. I’m the mother of 2 children, Alyson, age 10 and Rilen, age 8 months. Currently, I’m a SAHM. I love being home with my children and watching them growing. We also have a Pitbull named Roxy.
I’ve been scrapbooking since 2002 while I was pregnant with my daughter. I had previously been an avid cross-stitcher. While pregnant, I had a lot of pain in my wrists and fingers and couldn’t hold a needle….But, I found that I could scrapbook. This was back when there was nothing available but paper and stickers; and I immediately fell in love with the hobby. Here I am, 11 years later, still scrapping away.
I’ve been a member of 5 design teams and have recently started my own blog challenge. I’ve been published in Scrapbook News and Review and will have a layout featured in the November/December issue of Creating Keepsakes. I also have ventured into the world of Etsy by opening my own shop and having my own scrapbook service website.
I hope that you enjoy the layouts I have created for this month’s challenges. I enjoyed working with the sketches and hope that you will be inspired by my pages!

And here's what Stacia did with our sketch and palette...

And here is what our designers came up with...

You have the entire month of July to submit your layout or other project. Don't forget that to be eligible for the randomly chosen prize, you must use the sketch and have a U.S. mailing address. For a second entry in the drawing you can use the color palette with the sketch on the same layout or project.
